ABOUT WUPP2017
Workshop on Ultra-Precision Processing for Wide Band Gap Semiconductors, 2017 (WUPP-2017) will be held in Monterey, California, USA, on Nov. 5-Nov. 7.
This workshop will contribute to the further advancement of wide bandgap semiconductor devices through mixing researchers in wide bandgap semiconductors and ultra-precision processing. This workshop takes over the successful international meeting of WUPP-2013 in USA, WUPP-2014 in UK, WUPP-2015 in Japan, and WUPP-2016 in Taiwan.
As the fifth international workshop, we will discuss themes related to III-Nitrides, silicon carbide, and diamond, and their precision processing.
The organizing committees plan to provide an opportunity for researchers in semiconductors and ultra-precision processing to interact and discuss various issues related to these important wide bandgap materials from bulk preparation to device manufacturing for next–generation-device realization.
The workshop is "by invitation only" and is limited to about 60 participants to maximize the interaction.
SCOPE & TOPICS
As important topics to be discussed, the organizing committee will plan the following sessions;

Bulk crystal growth of GaN, SiC, and Diamond

Processing of bulk crystals for wafering

Device epitaxy and processing for LEDs, LDs, and power electronics applications, etc.

The organizing committee provides all of sponsor companies for poster exhibition (limited numbers). The fee of sponsorship is USD500 or JPY50,000.
The workshop venue is the Sanctuary Beach Resort, a special location right on the beach along the protected Marina Dunes Preserve. Each guest room features a fireplace and opens directly to the sand and ocean, while the new conference venue and restaurant are completing construction this summer. We look forward to an inspiring workshop together at this beautiful natural resort.

LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION
Monterey is located on California’s rugged central coast, an hour south of the renowned Silicon Valley. A historic city that was once the capital of Alta California and later immortalized by novelist John Steinbeck, modern Monterey is a vibrant working city and tourist destination home to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Pebble Beach, and the Monterey Jazz Festival.
